Chastity Bradford attained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Spelman College. She received her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). At UAB, she studied the Role of Local Renin-Angiotensin System in Cardiac Remodeling during the Development of Hypertension (HTN) and Progression of Cardiac Fibrosis. After completing her Ph.D., Chastity joined the administrative team at the University of Texas at El Paso as both the assistant dean of the graduate school and Alliance for Graduate Education and Professoriat Project Coordinator. There she led efforts to recruit, retain, and diversify science technology, engineering, and mathematics doctoral programs. She accepted a position as Howard Hughes Faculty Fellow at the University of Florida (UF) and is currently using hemodynamic, molecular, biochemical, and immunohistological analyses to determine if ACE2 overexpression prevents Angiotensin-II induced HTN in a mouse model, and to determine the signaling mechanisms involved in a novel therapy for monocrotaline-induced pulmonary hypertension. Chastity loves serving the community and her future goal is to train the next generation of scientists. Thus, she performs experiments with the 5th graders at Fessenden Elementary School in Ocala, FL and mentors undergraduates at UF.
