At the College of Medicine’s Celebration of Research Poster Event this spring, Hassan Ashraf and James Fleming (both medical students in the Class of 2018) each received a Lawrence M. Goodman Trust Award for their research posters based on their projects conducted in the laboratory of their mentor, Dr. Hideko Kasahara.
In a field of 86 entries, Hassan Ashraf’s poster on “Decellularized embryonic hearts to investigate congenital heart disease” received the 2nd place award, and James Fleming’s poster on “AAV9 gene transfer rescued heart failure of cardiac myosin light chain kinase knockout mice” received the 3rd place award. A committee of 22 judges selected the most outstanding posters based on the overall presentation, the data content and the student’s knowledge of the data.
